I was inspired to do this by Jennifer Dewalt. Read her blog and experience here. She built 180 websites in 180 days! No Break! What?! Yap.
So I am... NOT going to do that but it helped crystallize some things for me;
1. Best way to learn something is to do it. Repeatedly over time.
2. Start small, have fun, don't get bogged down by details/specs.
3. Know where to get answers if you get stuck:Google, Stack Overflow, etc.
4. Share what you learn, no matter how basic - there always someone who can benefit.
So here's my first Android App. I built it using instructions from this site for Android developers. Before you install it on your phone/tablet, make sure you have the "Unknown Source" setting checked - you can usually find it in System Settings > Apps Settings... but getting there could be slightly different depending on what version of the Android OS you're running. Once that's done, download this .apk file to your device, click on the download, and then select 'Install'. This will be the process for installing any App that I post here.
Thanks for trying it out.
***disclaimer: I've been told I'm a bit of a perfectionist and this App is anything but. By far!! However, the idea is to start... and stumble forward, right?
Cannot down load the app. What am I doing wrong?
ReplyDeleteJust tried it and it's downloading. Nitakuona kando. Sorry for late reply. In fact, ignore this one coz I just posted a 2nd app that's far better.
